Revit Parametric Components (also known as families) are the graphic depiction of building objects and symbols that can be presented in two and/or three-dimensional form in the project model and can appear in any view including schedules. It can include geometry in 2D or 3D as well as data that supports the definition and creation of object instances. A family describes one or more types or symbols that can be placed in the project for producing a family instance. Creation of Revit models are based upon various different families.
Revit families are driven by Revit's parametric change engine. If any change occurs to a family, it is spread right through the entire project. After being created, a family's parameters continue to be exposed can be edited directly within a Revit project.
Mathematical formulas can also bring parameters in families. As for instance if one use a formula in a window family it always creates the width of a window twice its height.
There exist three different classes of families’ alias system, standard and in-place:
You can create quite multifaceted objects and behavior by means of Revit families. Some of the possibilities are given below:
We at Revit Drafting have the ability to create families as a part of Building Information Modeling using Revit technology. Our families complement with exquisite visual detail and engineering accuracy. Our fully parametric families contain all of the real world product specs and metadata required for calculations and analysis. By applying the families one can produce schedules, determine LEED ratings, lower building costs, and specify products directly from model.
